Seamless Matter Inception. An End to Rekeying.

Last updated Owner: AlterspectiveFor: Prospective clients

PMS Sync bridges the gap between Aderant Expert and Clio Operate (built on the Sharedo platform) to automate the flow of your most critical firm data. Accelerate matter opening, protect data integrity, and let your teams focus on the work that matters.

1. Unified Workflows

Trigger a complete matter import directly from within the Clio Operate portal using our embedded widget. Staff never have to switch contexts.

2. Reliable Data Quality

Designed to eliminate manual rekeying and the copy-paste errors that come with it. The integration pulls live participant, role, and billing reference data, creating ODS Parties on the fly.

3. Risk & Compliance

The import captures opposing parties, expert witnesses, and key personnel — with their roles — on the new work item, giving your firm's downstream conflict-of-interest processes accurate, structured inputs.

4. Secure & Audited

Every transaction is logged. The proxy provides rate limiting and dry-run previews, and the on-premise agent's query surface is designed for reads — any write capability is governed by the SQL account's database permissions, and a read-only SQL login is the deployment standard.

The Challenge

Modern law firms invest heavily in cloud-based case management (Clio Operate) while relying on robust on-premise Practice Management Systems (Aderant) for billing and general ledger. The bottleneck? Matter inception. Paralegals and administrators spend an estimated 10–15 minutes per matter (estimate — to be validated during the pilot) manually duplicating matter details, client information, and opposing parties into the operational system.

The Solution

PMS Sync provides a secure, audited bridge. Users simply search for the PMS Matter ID, hit "Preview" to verify the mapped ODS parties and matter attributes, and click "Import". The system automatically provisions the corresponding entities in Clio Operate, stamping the user as a contributor and establishing the foundational workflow in moments, not minutes.
